'Because I Want To' Is a Valid Reason

'Because I Want To' Is a Valid Reason

On February 1st, I posted the above photo on my Instagram page with a caption that was very transparent and quite convicting.

"If someone you're talking to keeps trying to cross a boundary you have set and are attempting to uphold... they are not respecting your wishes and therefore do not care enough about you to take what you are saying serious enough so that they change their actions toward you.

It has taken me a very long time to learn this lesson.

Yes, I learned it the hard way... But I have finally met a person who for once, just respected a boundary I set and literally did not question it and did not try to go anywhere near it!

It's pretty sad, but let me tell you... I didn't even notice he had done this until he mentioned it a year or two later (aka this year)!

I promise you I met this man like a year and a half ago... and I literally did not even realize he respected my boundaries... this is how much I was used to being disrespected, tried, disregarded, toyed with, etc 👀

and mind you...I let it all happen... I DID NOT SEE MY COMPLICITNESS IN THE DISRESPECT OF MY OWN BOUNDARIES!

IN THE DISRESPECT OF ME AS A PERSON!

IN THE DISRESPECT OF ME AS A WOMAN WORTHY OF FAR MORE THAN JUST CRUMBS! 👀

yall not ready... i'm so passionate about this..."

I was not telling a lie when I said I was complicit in my own disrespect by the guys I used to entertain.

I am on another wavelength now and most of all I want to continue to cultivate a place where I can be me. A place where I am accepted for my beliefs and my quirks. A place where I can talk openly about my convictions and freely about my thought processes behind serious topics on love and relationships.
